KARACHI: KU announces schedule of admissions

KARACHI, Dec 16: The University of Karachi on Tuesday announced the schedule of entry tests, fee submission and completion of admission formalities in different departments in both morning and evening programmes.

The university announced that the candidates who got admissions in BS third year and Masters (previous) programmes on a merit basis in departments which did not hold pre-entry tests could submit their fee from Dec 17 to 20 in any of the following 16 designated branches of the UBL: Binnori Town (Gurumander), Defence Garden (Phase-I), University Road (near Baitul Mukkarram), New Karachi, Haidery Square (near police station), Raheemabad, Hamid Square, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Block-3, 8, Bahadrabad, Drigh Colony (near A-I Hospital), Malir Township, Landhi Industrial Area, Nazimabad Chowrangi, Saeedabad, Azam Town, Freer Street and Boat Basin.

According to a university notification, admissions of candidates who fail to deposit the fee during the prescribed dates will be cancelled and no claim will be accepted. Claim forms for both programmes can be submitted at the university’s Silver Jubilee counter of the bank between Dec 17 and 19.

Candidates admitted to BS third year, MBA, MPA, MCS and MSc on an aptitude test basis should contact the respective departments from Dec 17 to 20 for fee submission and completion of admission formalities.

Meanwhile, the schedule for admissions in MPharm (morning programme) was announced on Tuesday.

The dean of the faculty of pharmacy said admission forms would be available from Dec 22 at the respective departments of the faculty of pharmacy during office hours. The duly-filled forms could be submitted to the department by Dec 29, he said, adding that the list of successful candidates would be released in January 2009. Classes will commence from Jan 10, 2009.

Evening programme

The university’s evening programme directorate has announced that admission entry tests for MCS, BSCS and BSSE will be held at 10am and for MBA at 3pm on Dec 19 at the ground adjacent to the gymnasium and visual arts department.

Candidates have been advised to reach the examination centre 30 minutes before the scheduled time of tests. An admission list of successful candidates will be displayed on the notice board of the evening programme office and at the Silver Jubilee gate on Dec 24 at 4pm. Fees will be received from 4pm to 7:30pm between Dec 26 and 31. Claim forms can be submitted on Dec 24 and 26. A list of the approved claims will be displayed at the office of the evening programme on Dec 28 at 4 pm.

Registration date

The Federal Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology has extended the date for submission of registration forms for special examinations of seminary students till Dec 20.

According to a release issued by the university’s controller of examinations, the date for submission of registration forms for BA, BCom and MA (Private) examinations has also been extended with a late fee till Jan 10, 2009. Candidates having passed their last examinations in 2007 are eligible for registration.

DCET exams

The Dawood College of Engineering and Technology will hold examinations of BE electronics, chemical, metallurgy and material, industrial engineering and management and B.Architecture of batch 2004 (seventh term), batch 2008 (second semester) and batch 2005 (fifth term) from Dec 22 to Jan 15, 2009 on its premises.

Conference

Bahria University’s Karachi campus in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission will organise a two-day international conference from Dec 23.

It was announced that 141 research papers were accepted for presentation during the conference, which would cover diversified subjects in the fields of engineering, science and technology.
