Days of coalition numbered: Pervaiz

LAHORE, Jan 3: Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi says time is running out for the ruling coalition which is setting new records of bad governance.

Addressing a public meeting in the electoral constituency of PML leader Moonis Elahi at Kunjah, Gujrat, on Saturday, the former chief minister said the ruling coalition was creating problems for the people instead of providing facilities.

He said the unprecedented power and gas loadshedding and shortage of petrol had compounded the miseries of the people suffering due to inflation. More and more people are being forced to starve owing to increase in unemployment on account of closure of industrial units.

People were now remembering the services of PML-Q which had brightened the prospects of its return to power after the next general elections, he said.

The PML-Q, he said, had decided to maintain its identity and continue to play the role of a positive opposition. There was also a need to repair the damage done to the party as a result of grouping during the local government elections.

Mr Elahi said the future belonged to the PML-Q because the performance of its government was much better than the ruling coalition. The development projects executed during its tenure in health, education and public welfare had no parallel.

He said the rulers had hoodwinked the people by making fabulous promises, but bad governance on assumption of power had exposed their incompetence.

The PML leader said the rulers had started involving their political opponents in false cases instead of executing development projects. There was no constituency in Punjab where the PML-Q leaders and workers were not being victimized.

He said the PML-Q did not want the parties in ruling coalition to part ways. They should rule together because they had contested the election together.

However, the days of the ruling coalition were numbered due to its failure in smooth running of the government, he said.
