BLA, BLF decide to end ceasefire

QUETTA, Jan 4: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) have ended the unilateral ceasefire they had announced four months ago.

Talking to newsmen from an unspecified place on satellite phone on Sunday, BLA spokesman Beebargh Baloch said the decision to end the ceasefire had been taken by both the parties.

It may be mentioned that three organisations, including the BLA and BLF, had announced the unilateral ceasefire in September last year.

“We have decided to end the ceasefire with immediate effect and we will resume our activities,” Beebargh said, adding that the armed struggle had been halted in the hope that the government would address the demands of the Baloch people.

But, he said that military operation continued not only in Dera Bugti, Sui and Kohlu, but people in other areas of the province were also being subjected to atrocities.

He alleged that security forces had killed over 50 people and over 200 activists had been arrested.

He appealed to the Baloch people to join the struggle to achieve their rights.
