Senate body calls for law on legislators’ privileges

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5: A Senate body on Monday observed that the Parliament being a supreme law making body must have a statute to defend its own honour, sanctity, sovereignty and prestige.

These observations were made at a meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs chaired by Senator S.M. Zafar.

The meeting was held to consider and report on the private members’ bill entitled ‘the Parliament and its members’ privileges bill-2003’ introduced by Senator Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar Bhinder in the Senate on December 8, 2003.
