Former DSP, 15 others booked for threatening citizen

RAWALPINDI, Jan 7: A former deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and 15 others were booked by Civil Lines police on charges of illegally occupying land and hurling murder threats at a citizen, police said.

The case was registered against the former DSP, Nawazish Kiani, and 15 others after a victim, Fareeduddin, lodged a complaint with the inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab.

The police registered a case and sealed the FIR on the directives of the IGP. The SP investigation wing was appointed inquiry officer to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, the police have started investigating into an SMS received by the wife of a senior officer of Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) in which the sender threatened him of dire consequences if he did not transfer three officers, police said.

The deputy general manager, HR, told R.A. Bazaar police that the wife of Anwar Janjua had received an SMS on her mobile phone in which the sender informed her that he was from Lashkar-i-Taiba, and demanded that three HMC officers, which he named, be transferred from their present posts.—Staff Reporter
