KARACHI: Symposium on molecular medicine
KARACHI, Jan 9: A four-day international symposium and training course on molecular medicine and drug research will begin from January 12 at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University.
As many as 100 scientists from 30 countries are expected to attend the event, organised by the Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) of the University of Karachi. The director of ICCBS, Prof (Dr) Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary, made this announcement on Friday.
He was presiding over a meeting of the symposium’s organising committee held at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, KU.
He said that the aim of the event was to develop understanding about molecular medicine and drug research in Pakistan.
The inaugural ceremony of the event will be held on Monday at 9.30am at the ICCBS auditorium.
KU Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui will inaugurate the symposium while the coordinator general of Comstech and former chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Prof (Dr) Atta-ur-Rahman, will be the guest of honour.
Eminent scientists from 30 countries will deliver lectures while young scholars will give presentations.
The training sessions will focus on developing concepts of molecular medicines and its applications in understanding diseases at the molecular levels.
These sessions will be conducted by international experts.
