CJ takes suo motu notice of girl’s murder

ISLAMABAD, Jan 19: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Monday took suo motu notice on the murder of a 12-year-old girl whose tortured body was found in the capital last week.

According to a statement issued here, the chief justice has directed the inspector general of Islamabad police to submit the report and depute the senior superintendent of police to appear before the apex court on January 22.

The body of the girl was found in the wooded area near a road located behind Rawal Lake on January 15. Some passersby informed the police that the body of a girl was lying in the jungle located at Navy Club Road. The police shifted the body to hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The police said marks of injuries were found on the body including the neck which was also slit. A major wound was also found on the head, they added.

The police said she was killed during the night between January 15 and 16 and the killer(s) had thrown the body at the wooded area to hide their crime.

The police said she had been brutally tortured and murdered. However, whether she was subjected to rape before being killed will be ascertained after autopsy and chemical reports are received from Lahore.
