Signature campaign for peace from today

LAHORE, Jan 19: The Joint Action Committee for People’s Rights and its constituent civil society organisations will launch a signature campaign for the promotion of ‘India-Pakistan Peace and Prosperity’ at the Lahore Press Club and those at all district headquarters in the country from Tuesday (today) till February 20.

The campaign aims at sensitising the governments, politicians and media in India and Pakistan about the fears of the people regarding terrorism, religious fanaticism and war hysteria, besides regional economy and human rights.

The civil society organisation launching the campaign believe the leaders and politicians of the two countries should try to solve the problems faced by their respective states through a dialogue. An armed conflict between the two neighboring countries will play havoc with their economies and compound the miseries of their already burdened peoples.

The campaigners will set up desks at different places for the people to sign the joint appeal. The need for peace between India and Pakistan will also be highlighted through radio and television programmes.
