Explosives meant for fish hurt boys
TAXILA, Jan 23: Three boys were injured when explosives they were about to use for catching fish in a nullah exploded near Pind Gondal here on Friday.
The police said Asif Khan, 14, his brother Sadeeq Khan, 12, and their cousin Fazal Wahab, 15, from an Afghan family went to a nullah to catch fish. As they were preparing the material to explode it in the water, it went off injuring the children. They were taken to POF hospital at Wah Cantonment where Wahab’s condition was stated to be critical.
According to the police, the father of the two boys is working in Margalla hills and had stored some explosives in his house for blasting stones.
Israeli aggression slammed
The local leaders of all political groups of the city including Pakistan People’s Party, Jamaat-i-Islami, PML-Q, PML-N and other independent political groups were on Friday united in expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and to condemn Israeli aggression on civilian population.
After Friday prayers the leaders of different political parties and their workers jointly staged a protest demonstration at Wah Cantt. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogan against Israel, United States and in favour of people of Palestine.
The rally turned into a public meeting at the Basti Chowk, where the protesters denounced the Israeli aggression against Palestinians, demanding of the UN and the Muslim world to take cognizance of the situation.
Those who spoke on the occasion included former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan (PML-Q), Taimoor Masood Akbar (PML-Q), former MPA from Wah Cantt Prof Mohammad Waqas Khan (Jamaat-i-Islami), Amir Iqbal Khan (PPP) and Raza Hussain advocate (PML-N).
They said that Israel's atrocities against Palestinians are highly condemnable and the Muslim world must break its ‘criminal silence’ on the issue.
The protestors expressed their solidarity with the Palestinians and said the leaders of the Muslim world should make Israel stop the carnage.
The protestors said that sufferings of Palestinians in Gaza were beyond imagination. They expressed shock at the failure of the United Nations Security Council in brokering a ceasefire. They said the crisis in Gaza was aggravated by the two-year-long blockade of the territory by the Israeli forces and appealed to the people to help the Palestinians by providing humanitarian aid.
