10 patwaris suspended in Attock
ATTOCK, Jan 26: As many as 10 Patwaris in five tehsils of the district were suspended on Monday on the charges of misconduct, negligence, irregularity and public complaints, it has been learnt.
Sources in the revenue department said out of the suspended Patwaris, two were from Attock tehsil, one from Hazro, three from Pindigheb, two each from Jand and Fatehjhang tehsils. The respective deputy district officers revenue have sealed the record of the Patwaris and forwarded their cases to the executive district officer revenue for further departmental action against them.
The action was taken on the instruction of the revenue department Punjab that matters of all the Patwaris should be examined in detail and strict departmental action should be taken against them in case of any irregularities and negligence.
The other major reason for the action was the expected visit of secretary Punjab Inspection Team to the district in a few days whose main focus will be the affairs of the revenue department.
Two ‘criminals’ arrested
The local police on Monday arrested two hardened criminals, who committed numerous capital offences during 26 years of their criminal history.
One of the detainees was a gang leader, with Rs500,000 bounty on his head.
District Police Officer (DPO) Fakhar Sultan Raja told reporters that the law enforcers in recent weeks launched a campaign to nab proclaimed offenders and criminals hiding in the Kala Chita hills. DPO Raja said the police established a network of informants in the area to track the movement of their targets.
An intelligence unit on Monday informed the authorities that the most wanted proclaimed offender, Khyal Mohammad alias Khyalo of Ghoramar village, and one of his accomplices, Nawabzada of Bata village, were present in Bagh Neelab village of Kala Chita area.
A police team led by DSP Patrolling police Hafeez Ahmed Olukh and the Attock Saddar police SHO raided the criminals’ hideout and arrested both of them, besides seizing weapons.
The two men were shifted to the interrogation cell in the Attock Saddar police station amid high security.
Giving information about the POs’ criminal record, DPO Raja said Khyal Mohammad had formed a gang in Kala Chita area in 1982 after absconding in a murder case.
Both criminals arrested in Monday’s raid were wanted in 12 murder, attempted murder, robbery and terrorism cases, which had been registered during the last 26 years with the Attock Saddar and Jand police. They had also killed a constable, Majeedullah, during an attack on the police in the jurisdiction of Jand police in 1992, the DPO said.
CONSTABLES SACKED: DPO Raja dismissed two police constables for forgery and dereliction of duty.
According to a press release, Constable Allahyar was sacked when his matric certificate was found bogus during verification.
The constable was initially summoned through a show cause notice to explain his position, but he did not turn up before the authorities. A fraud case was also registered against him on DPO’s order.
