SUKKUR: Afghan convoy looted

SUKKUR, May 14: A fleet of seven buses of the United Nations carrying around 400 Afghan nationals from Karachi to Jalalabad (Afghanistan) was looted by a group of armed dacoits near Jahan Khan, 15 kms from Sukkur, on the Indus Highway on Tuesday.

The bandits apart from looting around 400 refugees also fired on them and injured 10 people, including three women.

The enraged Afghan refugees later blocked the highway for several hours and protested against the incident.

DIG Sukkur Mushtaq Shah, however, expressed his ignorance over the passage of such a big caravan of Afghan refugees, and said that had it been in his knowledge, efforts would have been made to escort the convoy peacefully from his domain.

However, DIG Mushtaq Shah suspected that Misrani Jatoi clan might be behind the attack.
