KARACHI, Jan 30: Police on Friday recovered the body of a man killed more than a month ago.

They found the body buried in a home in the Korangi area after receiving information from the deceased’s son, who disclosed that his stepfather killed his father with the help of his mother, as the two wished to marry each other.

Police were investigating Thursday’s murder of Rab Lal, a seminary guard in Landhi area and stepfather of the witness. Lal’s wife, Bisma, was also fatally injured in the attack by unknown persons. The son disclosed that before the couple married, they killed Bisma’s first husband and buried him in their home.

Bisma had five children from her first husband, Khayalzada Orakzai.

She was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to have her wounds attended to after Thursday’s attack, but succumbed to her injuries.

“The police questioned 11-year-old Ishaq, the elder son of Bisma, who disclosed that he saw his mother and stepfather kill his father Khayalzada Orakzai more than a month ago and then bury him inside their home,” SP Landhi Zahid Husain Shah said.

“The police followed the boy, who spotted the area inside the home of Rab Lal, where the body was buried. The culprits had buried the body in a space beneath the stairs. We have recovered and shifted it to the hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death,” he said.

He said since the boy had lost both his parents in the span of a month, he was in a state of shock and fear while disclosing the facts and the police preferred to rehabilitate his mental condition before getting any further leads.

The police authorities said they had almost ascertained the motive behind Rab Lal’s murder, describing it as a targeted attack driven by a personal enmity.

The murder took place outside Darul Uloom, Korangi Industrial Area, where the victim was employed as a guard. SP Husain said that Rab Lal, 26, had entered into his second marriage with Bisma, a widow with five children, over a month ago.“As the boy apparently said, both were culprits in the first murder and buried the body, but they are no longer alive,” said Mansoor Ali, SHO Awami Colony police station, which administrates the area of both crimes. “But we will definitely try to ascertain the real situation, registering a separate FIR of the case to find out what exactly happened that led to such a situation.”
