RAWALPINDI, Jan 30: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Friday sent nine suspected terrorists to Adiala Central Jail for identification parade on the request of investigators and ordered their appearance in the court on February 12.

ATC-II Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot, assenting to the submission of Station House Officer (SHO), Saddar Bairooni police station, Raja Musadaq, sent Mohammad Ilyas, alias Qari Jamil, a resident of Chakwal; Mohammad Rizwan, alias Shamsul Haq, resident of Karachi; Dr Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Lahore; Faisal Ahmed Khan, a resident of Bhakkar; Zeeshan Jalil, alias Khizar, a resident of Karachi; Mohammad Sarfaraz, alias Mohammad Khan, a resident of Karachi; Mohammad Naeem Shakir, alias Zubair, a resident of Sheikhupura; Mohammad Nadeem, alias Babu Salahuddin, a resident of Rawalpindi and Osama bin Waheed, alias Hadayatullah, a resident of Bhakkar, to Adiala jail for identification parade. The accused were brought to the court after normal court timings in an armoured personnel carrier (APS). On their arrival the law enforcers cordoned off the area around the court and nobody was allowed to go near the court.

The SHO said the accused were booked under section 4, 5 and 6 of the Explosive Substance Act, section 120-B of Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on January 29 when they were arrested from Dhoke Lakhan, a locality in the southern suburbs of the city near Dhamial Army Aviation Base.

At a press conference the other day, the city police officer (CPO) claimed to have recovered explosive material and weapons from the custody of suspects.

The police have asserted that the accused were involved in numerous suicide attacks in the twin cities most significant among them was assassination of a serving general of medical corps of the army on January 13, 2008.

Meanwhile ATC-I Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman dismissed the bail plea of a terror accused after he claimed that he was falsely implicated in the case.

Khalid Saifullah, the accused, had pleaded in his bail petition that he was not actually arrested by Civil Lines police from near Ayub Park along with two other men in May last year but from his hometown in Sargodha in March 2008.

Two other men have already been awarded bail by the Lahore High Court. They were allegedly arrested by the police with explosive substance.
