KHAIRPUR: Demand for low-cost DSL package
KHAIRPUR, Feb 6: Members of civil society and youth organisations staged a demonstration at Civic Centre chowk on Friday against the non-availability of DSL 512KB package being offered by the PTCL.
The PTCL offers a number of internet’s broadband digital subscriber line (DSL) packages. In Khairpur, however, the PTCL is not offering low-cost packages creating difficulties for students and other subscribers.
The protesters said that the PTCL administration had announced that the PTCL would offer students’ and other low-cost packages but nothing had so far happened in that regard.
They said that the local PTCL administration was not cooperating. When contacted the PTCL administration told Dawn that the facility in question required activation from Lahore and Islamabad and it was being delayed as it had not been activated from there.
Currently the PTCL is offering packages of 1MB and 2MB, which are beyond the reach of a common man and particularly students.
RALLY: Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Employees’ Union took out a rally to protest the kidnapping of Mohammad Aslam Ghumro, an office assistant of the controller section SALU here on Friday.
The rally started from Mariam Toap national highway and after marching through different roads reached the press club where they staged demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion, union leader Raza Durrani said that Sindh and Sindhi people needed peace, instead of hollow slogan of Roti, Kapra aur Makan because many people in Sindh like Mohammad Aslam were kidnapped and were in captivity of dacoits whereas police and district administration did not take proper action against the dacoits.
