PESHAWAR: HRCP seeks FIR against culprits: Cavalcade accident

PESHAWAR, Feb 8: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Sunday condemned the killing of two students by a speedy car in the cavalcade of federal information minister. In a press release issued here, vice-chairperson of the HRCP Frontier chapter, Musarrat Hilali, said that extraordinary security steps for the VIPs’ movement in the provincial metropolis had made the lives of common citizens miserable.

“But crushing two persons to death is something which can’t be justified by any argument,” she said and added that the government should allow the aggrieved persons to lodge first information report (FIR) against the culprits. “Action should be taken against the person responsible for this accident.”

It merits a mention here that a police vehicle escorting Federal Information Minister Sherry Rehman crushed to death two students while injuring two others including a taxi-driver on the main Jamrud Road on Saturday afternoon.

The minister was on her way to the Kacha Garhi Camp to visit the internally-displaced persons from Bajaur and other troubled agencies when the accident happened.
