DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Imambargah caretaker shot dead in Dera

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 19: A caretaker of an imambargah was killed in a shoot-and-run attack on the jurisdiction of City police station here on Thursday.

Two armed persons opened fire on Sher Zaman alias Shera of Shaheen street, near Shah Faisal mosque killing him instantly and managed to escape. Besides a wor-king as a caretaker of an imambargah, the deceased was also an employee of Tehsil Municipal Authority.

The news of his killing enraged people, who came out of their houses and protested his murder. They also fired gunshots in the air. Shopkeepers in Topanawala Bazaar, Rahim Bazaar, Kalan Bazar, Circular Road, Sadr Bazaar and Imamai Gate closed their shops after the incident.

The protesters chanted slogans against the local administration for its failure to protect the life and property of innocent citizens.
