Pakistan still in ‘denial mode’, says Mukherjee
NEW DELHI, Feb 22: Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Sunday that New Delhi’s fight against the Taliban was total and New Delhi could not compromise with the group in any form.
“Taliban produced nothing but violence. They are a terrorist organisation,” Mr Mukherjee was quoted as telling a private TV channel in Kolkata. He was commenting on the recent peace deal between the Pakistani government and a section of the Taliban in the Swat valley.
He said Pakistan was still in a denial mode over the Mumbai terror attacks. No explanation was given for the comment. The report quoting him said Islamabad had linked further progress in its 11/26 probe to New Delhi’s response to its 30 questions seeking more information.
Apparently the foreign minister regretted Pakistan’s “reluctance” in handing over the persons it arrested -- some of whom are suspected to be involved in the Mumbai strike.
“Pakistan is still in the denial mode. We all know it,” Mr Mukherjee said while talking to journalists. It was not clear where he was talking to journalists.
