Wattoo invites German investors
ISLAMABAD, Feb 25: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has invited investors from Germany to invest in Pakistan in several sectors, particularly expansion of Pakistan Steel Mill, fertiliser sector and windmill for power generation.
The offer was made by the minister while talking to a German delegation headed by Dr Olaf Berlien, chairman of the executive board of Thyssenkrupp Technology on Wednesday.
While welcoming the delegation Mr Watto said that Germany was an advanced and developed country and Pakistan wanted to benefit from Germany’s experience by sharing its expertise in all sectors of the economy.
The minister added that the government had planned to set up more fertiliser plants in the country to meet the needs of the country and foreign investment would be welcomed in this regard.
He further said that Pakistani agro-based industries had great potential for investment and the government would encourage public-private partnership and joint ventures in setting up of such industries in the country.
Mr Wattoo said that Pakistan was also interested in setting up of windmills for power generation through a joint venture with Germany.
He said the government will encourage foreign and local investment in setting up of fertiliser plants in the country, besides other fields as vast investment potential existed in Pakistan due to the policies of present government.
Dr. Olaf Berlien said that Germany was keen to invest in various sectors and wanted to establish industries in joint ventures in many fields. He assured that Germany would provide maximum support to Pakistan in this regard.—APP
