THATTA: Doctor's plea for protection
THATTA, Jan 8: A government doctor has appealed to the authorities to providing protection to him and his family from the atrocities of the police.
Talking to this correspondent on Thursday by telephone from a place which he opted not to disclose, the medical officer, Basic Health Unit, Abdul Hayee Palijo village, and focal person, Expanded Programme for Immunization, Mirpur Bathoro taluka, Dr Mohammad Juman Abbasi, said he, his family and close relatives were facing hardships due to the atrocities of the Bannu police.
He said that the police had implicated him in three fake cases of heinous nature following the kidnapping of two trader cousins, Ghazanfar and Sarfaraz Memon, by a cousin of his as claimed by the police.
Dr Abbasi said that he had invited the displeasure of the police by filing a habeas corpus petition in the Thatta sessions court and accompanying the raiding magistrate to help release his brother-in-law, Mohammad Yousuf, from wrongful confinement at the Bannu police station. He demanded that judicial inquiries should be initiated into the matter and protection provided to him and his family.
