SUKKUR: Torture of students by security men condemned

SUKKUR, Jan 11: Sui Gas Field Employees Union president Ghulam Sarwar Bugti has demanded that Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali should order action against security officials who tortured students of the Model School, Sui, on Saturday.

Talking to this correspondent by telephone on Sunday, the labour leader said the security officials tortured 90 students. He said the students were tortured as they had not brought security passes issued to them by the officials.

Those injured included Mehar Dil Bugti, Sajjad Hussain, Abdul Sattar Bugti, More Khan, Dilvish Bugti, Mohammad Yousuf, Naubat, Younus Bugti, Sher Khan and Peroz.

The union leader said the students belonged to families of Sui gas field workers. He warned that the situation could become serious if the government did not take action against the officials concerned.

ACCIDENT: One person was killed and seven others were injured when a car (GH-3212) collided head-on with a wagon (C-1171) on the Sukkur bypass on Sunday.

Car occupant Mohammad Aslam Rehmani, a resident of Punjab, was killed and his two friends, Sadaruddin and Masood Khokhar, were injured. Wagon passengers, including three brothers, Qalander Bux, Hakim Ali and Mir Mohammad, their father, Din Mohammad, and Ghulam Rasool Brohi, were also injured. The injured students were later taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.
