GUJRANWALA: Two MOs relieved for corruption
GUJRANWALA, Jan 15: The medical superintendent of the DHQ Hospital relieved four employees, including two medical officers, of their duties on Thursday. Doctors Fiaz Ahmad Khokhar and Capt Khalid Mahmood (retired), dispenser Shahid Nawaz and ward boy Faiz Ahmad were also directed to report to the executive district officer (health).
The MS had held an inquiry on public complaints that the emergency ward doctors and staff were involved in issuing fake medico legal certificates after taking bribe from people besides other irregularities.
Doctors Fiaz and Khalid had been working in the emergency ward since long. They were found guilty of the charges. Dispenser Shahid Nawaz and ward boy Faiz Ahmad were also found involved in serious irregularities.
The MS warned that inefficient and corrupt MOs and paramedical staff would not be tolerated at any cost. He hinted that more doctors and paramedical staff would be relieved of their duty after a thorough probe against them.
PACKAGE: The Wasa on Thursday announced a special package for defaulters by offering reduction of 30 per cent charges in water bills by Feb 15.
At a meeting presided over by Wasa managing director Muhammad Aslam Khan Niazi, the participants offered defaulters to deposit their outstanding dues within the stipulated period otherwise these would be recovered through court.
The meeting also decided that the date would not be extended at any cost. The meeting was told that this package had been offered to defaulters of water supply and sewerage bills.
CAMPAIGN: The anti-polio campaign will be started throughout the district from Jan 20.
