DADU: 12 union council Nazims resign: Want of uplift funds
DADU, Jan 16: Twelve union council Nazims of Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah talukas on Friday tendered their resignations to the district Naib Nazim as a mark of protest for not releasing funds for development schemes on Friday.
Nazims of UCs Mehar, Radhan, Bali Shah, Nau Goth, Baledai, Faridabad, Kolachi, Qazi Arif, Gahi Mahessar, and Sindhi Butra boycotted the meeting of UC Nazims which was called by the DCO to discuss development schemes.
The Nazims prior to resignations argued for three hours in the meeting for releasing the funds amounting Rs1.5 million to each UC. DCO Aijaz Mangi, district Naib Nazim Dr Zahid Ali Jatoi, EDO works and services Mohammad Ali Memon and other officials attended the meeting.
The DCO asked Nazims to provide him the list of small development schemes upto Rs500,000 and councillors upto Rs200,000. He assured that work would be initiated on these schemes as soon as the funds would be released to the district government. Nazims and councillors of remaining 15 union councils provided lists to the DCO but 12 out of 27 Nazims did not present any development schemes of Rs500,000 at the meeting.
Nazim UC Mehar town Hyder Bux Jatoi said the officials of the district administration were cooperating with the Nazim and had decided to release funds to the UCs.
DEMO: The primary teachers of the town on third consecutive day on Friday boycotted their classes to protest against the EDO education. The teachers also took out a procession from the EDO office to the press club.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Qayoom Memon, president PTA, said the EDO education had cancelled legal promotion orders of teachers and he was appointing teachers after receiving a bribe. Teachers appealed to the secretary education to ensure them justice.
HUNGER STRIKE: A large number of the Peoples Party-SB workers staged a demonstration outside the press club on Friday and demanded that killers of party leader Ali Sonaro should be arrested. They were led by their leader Ali Mohammad Jamali.
ELECTROCUTED: A man, Zahid Hussain Lashari, 27, was electrocuted when he touched a live wire in Jadam village near Thariri Mohabbat town on Friday.
