SANGHAR: Action against post office staff urged: Embezzlement in power bills

SANGHAR, Jan 21: Members of the district council on Wednesday demanded that the action should be taken against the post office staff of Shahdadpur for embezzling electricity bills.

Speaking at the council meeting on Wednesday, Atta Mohammed Chanhio, Hassan Chandio and Ismail Dars said substandard material was used in the construction of roads. They said quality of work was poor and newly-constructed roads had broken at various places.

They said an inquiry should be held in the construction of roads. Aman Shar demanded that metres of petrol pumps should be checked because they were providing two points less on every litre.

Molchand said Hesco had sent a bill of Rs5,000 while the same was paid at the Shahdadpur post office. He said Rs5 million of bills were pocketed by the post office employees with the connivance of Wapda revenue staff. Executive engineer Hesco Maqbool Sodho said the amount was not deposited with Wapda and consumers had to pay again.

CONVICTED: District and sessions judge Mir Nabi Bux Talpur on wednesday awarded 25 years imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine to Hamid Shah, a resident of the Misri Shah village, near Khipro. The convict was tried for murdering Usman Kaheri in 2001 and a case under section 302 was registered at the Khipro police station.
