SAHIWAL: 497kgs of hashish recovered
SAHIWAL, Jan 23: The Grain Market police and the National Highway & Motorway Police on Friday laid claims of recovering 497 kilograms of hashish from a Land Cruiser.
DPO Malik Khuda Bukhsh said the vehicle (IDF-4911) skidded off the road due to rain near the Mirdad Muaafi railway station. He said the smugglers beat a retreat immediately after the accident. Receiving information, the Grain Market police headed by its DSP and SHO rushed to the spot.
During checking, the police recovered 497 packets of hashish, a Kalashnikov, the registration book, three fake number plates, three uniforms, caps and badges of Frontier Constabulary. The Grain Market police have registered a case.
Meanwhile, NH&HP's Okara zone SSP Mian Muhammad Asif said that beat No 21 Senior Patrolling Officers Abdul Ghani and Masudur Rehman were on patrol duty. They were aired a message about a suspicious vehicle (IDF-4911) parked along the road near Qadirabad. As they reached the spot, a man present in the vehicle fled towards nearby fields.
The officers inspected the vehicle and recovered the contraband, an SMG rifle, 29 bullets, two FC uniforms, the registration book and a number plate.The vehicle and the recovered drugs and ammunition were handed over to the Sahiwal Ghalla Mandi police.
