Electioneering picks up in Mingora
MINGORA, Aug 29: Electioneering for the election of district Nazim and Naib Nazim here is gaining momentum day by day.
Two alliances, Swat Qaumi Ittehad (SQI) and Karwan-i-Swat, are in the field while the independent candidates have withdrawn their nominations.
Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) candidate Asfandyar Amir Zeb is contesting for the Nazim’s slot while and Pakistan People’s Party Patriot aspirant Salimur Rehman is fighting for the Naib Nazim’s post.
An alliance of five political and religio-political parties, Swat Qaumi Ittehad (SQI), has announced Arshad Khan of the Awami National Party (ANP) and Malik Barkat Ali of the PML-N as their candidates. The Jamaat Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao), Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) are included in the bloc.
All the candidates have started door-to-door visits to win over the sympathies of the elected people of the local government. In the past election, the PML-Q and PPPP were the main rivals.
The PTI has divided into two groups. The group of Union council Nazim Muhammad Amin is supporting Karwan-i-Swat while the other one is supporting the SQI.
Provincial PTI President Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan on Thursday announced to support Asfandyar Amir Zeb, which caused unrest among the workers.
