DADU: MNC urged to pay land compensation

DADU, Jan 27: A resident of Vegejhee village, Johi taluka, observed a token hunger strike outside the district council building here on Monday against non-payment of land compensation by the BHP oil company.

Talking to newsmen, Khamiso Panhwar said that the BHP had, under an agreement, paid him Rs1.5 million for three years for using his 24 acres of land, located in Deh Vegejhee and bearing survey Nos. 55, 56, 57 and 59.

He said that now the company had established an oil refinery on his land but had refused to pay him compensation for it. He appealed to the BHP head to intervene in the matter and provide him with justice.

HESCO: A large number of Hesco employees and consumers held a demonstration outside the press club here on Monday to protest against alleged corruption of the Khairpur Nathan Shah Hesco SDO.

They were led by a leader of Wapda Employees Paigham Union, Mohammad Usman Junejo, and others. Speaking to protesters, Mr Junejo said that the SDO was forcing his lower staff to pay him bribe on monthly basis.
