BAHAWALPUR: High prices of animals keep buyers away

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 1: High prices of sacrificial animals kept buyers away on Sunday, a day before Eidul Azha. Although a large number of animals have arrived from rural areas in the local markets, their prices are still high.

People thronged the animal markets in large number due to Sunday. A number of people told this scribe that they could not buy animals as their owners were demanding very high prices.

They said the owners demanded Rs10,000 for a goat normal size and Rs5,000 to Rs6,000 for a medium size goat. High prices of sheep and goats forced people this year too to share in a big animal like a cow or a camel.
