GUJRANWALA: 15 Shabab, JI men granted bail

GUJRANWALA, Feb 10: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday granted bail to 15 activists of Shabab-i-Milli and Jamaat-i-Islami who were arrested four days ago on charge of taking out procession against the government.

Led by city Shabab-i-Milli president Mushtaq Ibrahim and JI office-bearers Salim Lone, Saeed Khokhar and Azhar Khan, they held a demonstration on the GT Road on Feb 6 against debriefing of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

FAROOQ CASE: Meanwhile, the court continued the hearing of the murder case of former provincial minister Chaudhry Farooq and recorded the statement of Wazirabad SP Waqar Ahmad Chohan.

The SP confirmed that the accused were involved in killing of former provincial minister. The court summoned Inspector Riffat Javed for Wednesday (today).

PATROL: The Punjab government approved setting up of 'special patrol force' to combat crime on highways and allocated Rs107.64 million for the purpose.

Sources told this scribe here on Tuesday that the construction of posts have already been started. Eight patrol posts would be constructed in each district on various roads. They said an officer of the rank of DIG would be the head of the special patrol force.
