FAISALABAD: Rain exposes TMA performance

FAISALABAD, Feb 10: Hours-long drizzle exposed the claims of city TMA as streets and roads have been converted into ponds. The intermittent rain, continuing for the last couple of days , not only created problems for the motorists but also for pedestrians. About a dozen motorcyclists sustained injuries in different parts of the city when their vehicles slipped.

The major roads, Circular Road, Kutchery Road, Railway Road, Regency Road, Karkhana Bazaar Road, and some roads in residential areas have been under construction for the last couple of months and the dug up earth has rendered the roads slippery.

REST HOUSE: The district administration has allotted the district council rest house to the Tehsil Municipal Administration (Saddar) for setting up its offices.

The Saddar TMA, comprising rural areas of Khurrianwala and Dijkot, has been operating from rented rooms of the city TMA complex for the last couple of years. The administration had planned about four months ago to shift its offices to Liaquat Road.

The councillors had threatened about a fortnight ago with a protest drive if they were not allotted a site for their offices. As a last resort, the administration allotted the rest house to the TMA for the construction of offices through its own resource.

FOOD CONFERENCE: The 14th All Pakistan Food Science Conference will be held at the University of Agriculture here under the aegis of Pakistan Society of Food Scientists and Technologists on Wednesday (today). Minister for Excise and Taxation Dr Muhammad Shafique will inaugurate the moot.
