HYDERABAD, Feb 20: A week-long protest demonstrations and hunger strikes on the call of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy in connection with the "Remove Musharraf: Save Pakistan" movement throughout Sindh districts came to an end on Friday.

In Hyderabad, all the wings of People's Party Parliamentarians, including Sindh People's Students Federation, youth, ladies and labour wings set up protest camps outside the press club.

MNA Amir Ali Shah Jamote, MPAs Zahid Bhurgari and Ali Nawaz Rizvi, Pervez Ansari, Syed Fayaz Shah, Mohsin Shah Bukhari, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leaders Afzal Gujjar and Shabir Ansari led the protest sit-in.

Speaking on the occasion, the ARD leaders said the week-long protest sit-ins were not the end but the beginning of a prolonged movement. They vowed to continue the movement till the ouster of Gen Pervez Musharraf and the restoration of true democracy in the country.

KHAIRPUR: PPP activists continued their hunger strike on eighth consecutive day on the call of ARD on Friday.

As many as four MPAs Nawab Wassan, Zahid Bhambhan, Naeem Kharal and Dr Mehreen Bhutto and workers of the party observed a token hunger strike at the hunger strike camp.

The protesters also staged a rally which marched through Panj Gulla chowk, Phool Bagh road, Mall road and Kutchehry road. Activists of PML (N) staged a rally outside the press club.

THATTA: Gen Musharraf has made a futile attempt to hide facts on Dr Qadeer Khan issue. This was stated by Shah Mohammad Shah, provincial chief of Sindh Study Circle, PPP while speaking on the eve of winding up session of the first phase of the ARD campaign against the Musharraf government in Mirpur Bathoro on Friday.

DADU: PPP and PML (N) workers staged a demonstration outside the press club on Friday to protest against Gen Pervez Musharraf. The ARD leaders observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.

JACOBABAD: A rally was staged by PPP and PML (N) activists, on Friday. The protesters carrying banners and placards marched on the civil hospital road, Pir Bukhari road, tower road and DC road. They observed a token hunger strike the DC chowk.

NAWABSHAH: Workers of PPP and PML (N) continued their protest on Friday. They staged a rally which ended at the press club. The protesters observed a sit-in opposite the press club and demanded removal of Gen Musharraf and release of Asif Ali Zardari.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: A large number of PPP and PML (N) activists observed a token hunger strike on eighth consecutive day against Gen Musharraf government on the call of ARD on Friday.

Protesters were led by Pir Qurban, Dr Sattar Rajpar, Shakeel Jalbani and Malhar Rajpar.

LARKANA: A large procession, led by MNA Hizbullah Bughio and MPA Aziz Jatoi, arrived here from Dokri and the participants joined the protestors at the ARD camp outside Jinnah Bagh.

SHIKARPUR: A rally was staged by the ARD components in the town.
