SWABI: Drive to check vehicles' papers

SWABI, March 1: The district police will launch an operation against vehicles without proper documents after completion of a crackdown against such motorcycles, police officials said here on Sunday.

Police, the officials said, did not intend to victimize people, adding culprits found responsible would have to go through the investigation process. He said the operation was aimed at identifying vehicles with valid documents.

TRANSPORTERS DEMAND: Local transporters have urged authorities to arrest the killers of the driver of a car that was snatched two weeks ago. They also called for recovering the vehicle.

Officials concerned told this correspondent that while the Karachi-registered car (AA-9934) was snatched from the Yar Hussain area in Swabi but the driver's dead body was recovered from Akora Khattak so it was the responsibility of the Akora police station.

Transporters said the government should take stern action against car-lifters and killers.

LOOTED: Pickpockets are reported to have deprived three people of vital documents and cash in the Topi area. A man named Yousaf, owner of a ticketing agency, was deprived of a passport bearing visa for Saudi Arabia and an airline ticket at the Topi bus stand.
