THATTA: Registration of FIRs ordered by judge

THATTA, March 15: The district and sessions judge here on Monday ordered registration of three FIRs against nine political activists for resorting to firing, creating rumpus and injuring a PPP activist.

The persons to be booked in the separate FIRs include Hussain Shah, son of Thatta District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi; Riaz Hussain Shah, son of provincial adviser for forests Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi; Maqbool Shah Shirazi, brother of the district Nazim; his son Basheer Ahmed Shah Shirazi, Arib Khaskheli and Nazir Khaskheli.

The judge, Qamardin Bohra, issued the order on three applications each filed by Saleem Qureshi, cousin of Imtiaz Qureshi, the district information secretary, People's Party Parliamentarians; Azeem Sarki, PPP activist; and Ali Mohammad Mirbahar, caretaker of the Soomro Manzil housing party's district office.

They complained that the accused resorted to aerial firing outsdide the house of Mr Imtiaz, creating havoc and injuring Mr Sarki. They added that the accused stormed and ransacked party's district office on the day the PPP was observing protest against the killing of its MPA, Abdullah Murad Baloch.

The applicants stated that they immediately approached the Thatta police for registration of FIRs but were denied the same by SHO Ghulam Sarwar Vistro due to alleged pressure of the Shirazi group.

Mehboob Javaheri and Punhoon Uqaili, counsels of the complainants, told this correspondent that despite the court directives, the SHO had again refused to register the FIRs on the pretext that he had not yet received written orders of the judge. However, he assured that on receipt of the orders, he would act accordingly.
