HYDERABAD: Youths urged to acquire modern education

HYDERABAD, March 29: State Bank governor Dr Ishrat Hussain has said unity, sincerity and hard work is a prerequisite for development of the country, adding the young generation should concentrate on acquiring modern education and knowledge.

He was speaking as chief guest at a seminar on "Late Abdullah J. Memon: His Personality and Contributions in Realm of Good Governance", organized by the department of public management sciences, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, at the Institute of Sindhology on Monday.

Paying tribute to the late Memon for his services, Dr Hussain said he was a person who always stood for merit and supported deserving people. He said Mr Memon had served in different capacities and he was close to the masses.

He said the objective of good governance could be achieved by following certain principles. He said the first principle of good governance was that a public servant should be accessible to people of the area where he was posted.

Dr Hussain thanked vice-chancellor Mazharurl Haq Siddiqui for inviting him to his alma mater. He appreciated steps taken by the university in the cause of higher education. In his remarks, Mr Siddiqui lauded services of Mr Memon for welfare of people.
