Squash to have four more medals

ISLAMABAD, Mar 29: Four more medals have been added in squash with the losing semi finalists now also to be awarded bronze medals, Muhammad Yahya, Director Technical for the SAF Games said on Monday.

The medals to be awarded in individual and team events in both the men and women's competitions were added on the request of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF).

There will now be a total of eight bronze medals at stake in the competition that is due to begin on Monday at the Roshan Khan Complex with the men and women's individual competitions.

Pakistan are the favourites to land gold in both the men's individual and team events while India are tipped to claim the top medals on the women's side.

APP adds: the squash competitions in the 9th SAF Games will start at Roshan Khan Squash Courts from Tuesday. Both men and women competitions will start simultaneously.

The game was first included in the 4th SAF Games in 1989, held in Pakistan and will be the second time it has been made part of the Games. In the previous competition Pakistan had won two gold medals and one bronze, India two silver while Sri Lanka got one bronze medal.-APP
