MINGORA: Villagers demand phone connection

MINGORA, March 30: The inhabitants of Nekphkheil villages have expressed their concern over delay in provision of telephone facilities to the Mera, Samai, Tall and other adjacent villages and warned that the inhabitants would come on the streets if the problems are not solved.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday villagers accused the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited of not taking an interest in their area. They said that majority of them had applied for the telephone facilities in 1994, but the authorities were not ready to provide it.

When contacted the concerned divisional engineer he said, "we have planned to provide the facility on basis of merit but some people are trying to get connection above the merit, which is unlawful".
