LARKANA: 27 held in operation against bandits

LARKANA, May 19: About 27 suspects have been rounded up in a major operation for the recovery of two persons, Ali Hassan and Noor Hussain Chachar, who were kidnapped from Mahota village of Larkana a few days back.

Police said that among those picked up were patharidars and accomplices of the kidnappers. The whole katcha area along the Indus river has been divided into sectors and around 100 police pickets have further been strengthened, DPO Larkana, Ghulam Nabi Memon, said on Sunday.

Snap checking was also underway to check the movement of criminals, he added.

BAR POLLS: The pro-Pakistan People’s Party panel of advocates swept the election of the District Bar Association (DBA), Larkana, on Saturday.

The pro-Sindh National Front panel boycotted the election.

Ayaz Soomro, who emerged victorious for the fourth consecutive session as president of the DBA by getting 179 votes, led the PPP panel.

Sarfraz Jatoi from the PML (N), who joined hands with the PPP in the election, was elected general secretary by securing 126 votes. This is for the first time that a pro-PML (N) candidate had won the seat in DBA, Larkana.

Ghulam Asghar Khichi was elected vice president by obtaining 168 votes.
