SANGHAR: Plea to lift ban on wheat movement

SANGHAR, April 7: District council members on Wednesday demanded that a ban on the movement of wheat should be withdrawn. They protested against the checking of vehicles and taxation officials.

They said that they would like to know why did the district Nazim fail to act when flour was being sold at Rs16 a kilo and wheat was being taken out of the district. Restricting the movement of wheat at a time when new crop has arrived in the market will harm growers and benefit traders, they maintained.

The members through a resolution demanded that amount of fine imposed by excise officials of Hyderabad should be made payable at Sanghar. Faisal Wassan, Dr Hashim, Atta Chanhio and Murad Nizamani spoke on the occasion.

Women councillors Dr Rubina Rauf, Naheed Arshad, Abida Begum, Begum Khatoon and Samina Ahmed demanded that women members should be paid honorarium.
