DADU: Man seeks protection
DADU, April 8: A man has saught protection from the district administrationas he feared that some influential persons of the Qambrani tribe may kill him on the pretext of Karo-kari. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Ghulam Nabi Bhand, a driver at the Dadu income tax department, alleged that Mazhar Qambrani, and his cousin, Anwar Qambrani, were threatening him that if he did not vacate a house, which he had purchased from Mazhar, he would be killed as Karo.
He said that after he had purchased the house in Mazdoorabad Mohalla for Rs175,000 four months back, he took a loan and constructed more parts at the house. The man said that police arrested the two persons after he complained to the Dadu town police station in writing two days back.
However, he regretted, the accused were released after the intervention of Mumtaz Leghari, a brother of MPA Dr Manzoor Leghari. When contacted, Anwar Qambrani denied that they had threatened to kill the man but conceded that they had a dispute over property.
PRIVATE SCHOOLS: All Sindh Private School Managements' Association chairman Syed Khalid Shah has complained that the Sindh government is not cooperating with managements of private schools.
Talking to journalists here on Thursday, he said that some 800 private schools were functioning in Karachi alone. He said that students of the private schools were bagging positions in different examinations. He demanded that the government should also allocate budget for the private schools.
COURT BUILDING: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad laid the foundation stone of a new court building in Sehwan here on Thursday.
