Sibi win controversial regional final
KARACHI, Oct 26: Sibi won the controversial regional final of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy grade-II on the basis of the first innings lead after their two-day game against Quetta ended in a draw at the PCB regional academy ground Friday.
Quetta Thursday lodged protest with local committee against Sibi for alegedly including seven guests in their lineup.
The protest has been referred to PCB’s disciplinary committee which, after its findings, will forward their case to Iqbal Qasim who is the Chairman Management Committee (CMC).
Quetta played the match under protest.
Quetta resuming their first innings at overnight 89-3 were bowled out for 200, conceding a 74-run lead to Sibi who had made 274 for 4 in their first innings.
When match ended 35 minutes before the scheduled close, Sibi were 195 for 5 in their second innings.
Rashid Hanif, followed his first innings century with another sterling unbeaten knock of 75 with six boundaries and two sixes. he batted for 96 minutes.
Earlier, left-arm spinner Mohammad Asif captured five for 76 in 26 overs while Mian Nafees claimed three for 49 as Quetta collapsed to 200 all out in 58.4 overs.

Multan qualified for the Oct 29 and 30 regional final against Gujrat when its match against Rahimyar Khan ended in draw at the Mehmood Stadium in Rahimyar Khan.
SUFIYAN EXCELS
Gujrat qualified for the final by virtue of gaining a first innings lead in their match against Mianwali which ended in a draw at the KRL Stadium, Islamabad Desk reports.
Dismissing Mianwali for 186 in their first innings gave Gujrat, who had scored 277 for eight earlier, a lead of 91 runs. Rizwan Ahmed with 41 and Kaleem Shah who scored 34 were the top batsmen for Mianwali.
When play ended on the second day of the two-day match, Gujrat in their second innings had scored 297 for five in 56 overs, a total that revolved around century-maker Sufiyan Munir.
He hit 109, an innings laced with 17 fours and three sixes. Other among the runs were Haji Wasim (52) and Sagheer Awan (45).
Mianwali had resumed their first innings Friday at the overnight total of 104 for four but the rival attack kept them well in check with paceman Sagheer adding one more wicket to his Thursday’s haul of four.
He had figures of five for 51. Fakhar Hussain and Fayaz Ahmed were the other wicket-takers, both claiming two apiece.
