HYDERABAD, April 13: The sacked employees of the Hyderabad Civil Hospital held a demonstration outside the press club here on the second consecutive day on Monday to protest against their dismissal. They raised slogans against Sindh Health Minister Naeem Ishtiaq and Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Majeed Bozdar, Mahram Leghari and others said that they had been appointed after completing legal formalities and had also served in the hospital for one month yet their services were terminated.

They demanded removal of the health minister and medical superintendent. Meanwhile, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi in a statement condemned the dismissal of employees.

He alleged that on the one hand, the Sindhi employees were sacked at the instance of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and, on the other, 600 people had been appointed in a social security institution without the vacancies being advertized.

He claimed that not a single Sindhi-speaking person was included in the 600 employees. He said that such decisions were being taken at the '90' and added that it was a cruel joke with merit and the Constitution. He demanded that the sacked employees of the hospital should be reinstated and 600 social security institution employees should be sacked.

WASA: The Water and Sanitation Agency has announced that it has decided to withdraw monthly instalment facilities for those consumers who have not paid instalments for the last three consecutive months.

The finance director of Wasa said that it had also been decided to withdraw the facility for those areas where overall recovery was less than 70 per cent.

SIDA: The Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority has published Sindhi translation of the Sindh Water Management Ordinance 2002. A Sida spokesman said that the authority being a regulatory body had published some materials about elections for the guidance of growers.

He said elections of those farmers' organizations which had completed their two years tenure would be held by December 2004. A Sida spokesman said the first tenure of FOs according to rules was for two years while thereafter the elections would be held for four years.
