HYDERABAD: Nazim inaugurates roads, schools

HYDERABAD, April 23: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman inaugurated eleven schemes of link roads and two of school buildings completed under the ADP and the Sugar Cess Development Fund in Tajpur and Baoo Pathan union councils of Matiari taluka on Thursday.

The road schemes he inaugurated included link road Aloo Palijo village completed at the cost of Rs5.8 million, link road Kot Javed Shah (Rs4.3 million) in UC Baoo Pathan, link road Qazi village (Rs0.2 million), link road Saleh Dars village (Rs0.45 million), link road Qabool Sand village (Rs0.45 million), link road Siddique Sand village (Rs0.77 million), link road Wahid Dino Unnar village (Rs0.652 million), link road Dadlo Hajano village (Rs3.7 million) and link road Sawan Hajano village (Rs0.60 million).

All these schemes were completed under the Sugar Cess Development Fund. A link road from Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road to Tajpur village completed at the cost of Rs2.143 million and link road Karnati village (Rs2 million) were completed under the Annual Development Programme 2003-04.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremonies of above development schemes, the Nazim said that the district government was giving top priority to link all the villages of the district. He said that roads stretching more than 430 kilometres had been completed by the district government to boost the socio- economic condition of rural population.

Mr Makhdoom informed that the work on 259 different development schemes was in progress under the ADP 2003-04 and hopefully 242 schemes would be completed by the end of current financial year by utilizing annual allocation of Rs71 million.

He said that out of Rs85 million of the Sugar Cess Development Fund from the previous year, the government had released Rs40 million and added that if the government provided Rs45 million from the previous year and Rs42 million from this year well in time than out of 85 on-going development schemes under the Sugar Cess Development Fund schemes, 70 per cent would be completed this year and remaining 30 per cent in the next financial year.

He said that a new portfolio for establishing communication network in the district had been prepared at the proposed cost of Rs120 million to be implemented in the new financial year 2004-05 subject to approval from authority concerned.

The Nazim inaugurated two schemes of school buildings which included government primary school Siddique Khatian completed at the cost of Rs6.75 million and government middle school Arif Khatian completed at the cost of Rs1.2 million.

The Nazim while speaking at the inaugural ceremonies of development schemes of schools and during visit to higher secondary school Palijani said that Rs60.216 million would be spent to provide all basic facilities at all primary and secondary schools of the district.

He said that out of this amount Rs40.216 million had already been released to the district management of education department on account of school management committees fund last month, while a foreign donor agency had agreed to provide Rs20 million under "Lacking Facilities Scheme" to be launched from the next financial year to facilitate the schools in the district.

He directed the EDO education to accelerate the efforts for completing SMCs in the district and to utilize the funds and facilitate accordingly.
