GUJRANWALA: 80 captives set free

GUJRANWALA, April 30: As many as 80 captives involved in minor cases were set free by the district and sessions judge during his visit to the district jail on Friday.

Reports said the judge got a list of prisoners serving jail for their involvement in minor cases, and ordered their release. He also visited some of the barracks and reviewed provision of facilities to the inmates.

ROBBERIES: Robbers plundered cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the house of a landlord and took away another's motorcycle in different strikes here on Friday.

Reports said nine armed men entered Tajdin's house by scaling the wall at Karimpura. They held up the inmates and took away 120 tolas of gold ornaments and Rs52,000 in cash. Saleem, a local landlord, was deprived of his motorbike by two robbers at Kamoki.

BOY KILLED: A boy was killed when he was trapped in a wheat thrasher at Dhannkel, Wazirabad, on Friday. Reports said Tayyab was observing the thrasher operation when his clothes were entangled in machine. He died instantly.
