HYDERABAD: Folk artiste Sanam seeks protection
HYDERABAD, May 5: Noted folk artiste Sanam Marui has appealed to higher authorities to provide protection to her and her parents as they are receiving threats of kidnapping and murder.
Speaking at a news conference along with her mother, Parveen Hyderi, at the press club here on Wednesday, Ms Marui said that wherever she went to participate in cultural programmes she was followed by the accused, Qadan Teeano and his relatives.
She said that she attended a programme in Daur on May 2 and the administration provided her with protection up to the road but later she was followed by the accused till her vehicle entered the Nawabshah city.
She said that her life and those ofher parents and brothers were in danger. The artiste said that she could not attend cultural programmes and demanded that the Sindh government should provide her with protection.
She also appealed to artistes of Sindh to raise their voice in her support. She called upon the government to direct the district administration to provide her with security during cultural programmes.
The woman said that she would observe hunger strike unto death outside the Hyderabad Press Club if justice was not restored to her.
