SHEIKHUPURA: Three of family shot over marriage issue

SHEIKHUPURA, May 5: Three family members, including a woman, were shot dead while a man and three women were injured seriously on Wednesday over a marriage issue at Chak 15/16 in the limits of Syedwala police station, some 85kms from here.

Riaz had proposed the marriage of his son with Shagufta, the daughter of Manzooran Bibi. He fell into a rage when Manzooran turned down his proposal. Accompanied by his four accomplices, he shot dead Manzooran at her house.

Later, they went to the house of Nadir, the brother of Manzooran, and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates. Consequently, Nadir's sons Ahmad and Qamar died instantly while Muhammad Ali, Sahiba Bibi, Rifat Bibi and Nooran Bibi sustained serious bullet wounds. The assailants escaped while firing in the air.

A case has been registered against Riaz and his accomplices. Meanwhile, five armed assailants shot dead a man and his son on Wednesday over an old enmity in Bhar village. Accused Abbas, Farooq, Riaz and their two accomplices busted into the house of Ghulam Rasool and shot dead him and his son Amir.
