KASUR: 45 bottles of liquor seized

KASUR, May 7: The Police Investigation Cell on Friday seized 45 bottles of Indian-made liquor from the outhouse of an assistant superintendent of the Zila Nazim office.

Acting on a tip-off, SI Syed Amjad Ali Shah along with his staff raided the outhouse of Saleem Qadir Shah at Kot Ghulam Muhammad Khan.

The raiding team arrested Saleem, the son of Shafi, and Muhammad Rafi and recovered Indian-made liquor from their possession. However, ring leader Saleem Qadir Shah and Farid Khan managed to escape from the scene. B-Division police have registered a case.

ABDUCTED: A 10th class student was kidnapped for ransom on Friday by two outlaws from near the Brothers Sugar Mills, Chunian. Abdul Rasheed told police that his son Hafiz Anjum and his class fellow Azhar were returning from the school when Ramzan alias Jani and his accomplice intercepted them and abducted his son.

Later, the accused demanded Rs0.5 million ransom for the release of his son by telephone. They also threatened to kill the boy if the family did not pay them the ransom money.
