JHANG, May 7: On the orders of the Public Safety Commission, Kotwali police on Friday registered a case against six policemen, including its former SHO, for torturing and humiliating a cinema owner.

Sheikh Waseem Aslam, owner of Tasweer Mahal cinema, had lodged a complaint with the PSC that SHO Aamir Mushtaq, SI Abdul Jabbar, ASI Zawar Hussain, head constable Gulbaz and constables Zafar and Nasir came to the cinema where a drama was being staged.

He alleged that the SHO wanted to see the dance of a female artiste, but the cinema management refused to oblige him. Losing his temper, the SHO started beating the cinema owner. He dragged him out of his office and thrashed him after stripping off his clothes in the presence of hundreds of audience.

Later, the SHO sent the cinema owners behind bars after registering a fake case against him. On receiving a complaint, the PSC probed into the matter and found the police party guilty of charges. The commission also ordered the suspension of the policemen involved in the offence and registration of a case against them.

Following the recommendations of the PSC, DPO Khadim Hussain Bhatti suspended the six policemen from the service and ordered the registration of a criminal case against them.

LOOTED: Four armed dacoits on Thursday night looted cash and jewellery worth Rs225,000 from the house of a landlord in Jamali Khurd village, some 35kms from here.

As per the FIR lodged with the 18 Hazari police station, Mushtaq Jat had borrowed Rs125,000 from a relative in Nawan Lahore. On Thursday night, armed bandits barged into the house and held the inmates hostage. Later, they collected cash, jewellery and disappeared in the darkness.
