NAROWAL: Two suspects held in Narowal rape case

NAROWAL, May 10: The district police claimed on Monday to have arrested the two absconding suspects involved in the gang-rape of a Christian girl. District Police Officer Tayyab Saeed told newsmen that the police had earlier arrested two suspects, Imran and Waseem, who had been released on bail.

While Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Jamil got their pre-arrest bails confirmed after which the police declared them innocent. He said the remaining two suspects, Nawaz Butt and Naseem, were held in the latest action.

The police took action after the victim and members of her family staged a sit-in outside the Parliament House the other day, as they were not satisfied with the investigation.

The victim, a student of Saint Paul High School, Narowal, was picked up by six men and allegedly gang-raped for three days. DSP (investigation) Asif Ansari has transferred the case to the Gujranwala Range SP (crime branch) for further investigation. - Correspondent
