HANGU: Kidnappers' homes torched in Hangu
HANGU, May 11: A tribal lashkar torched homes of five alleged kidnappers in the Zargari area, some 25 kilometres from here on Tuesday, and fined each of the captors to pay Rs200,000 to the victim.
The lashkar came into action after a jirga found that a kidnap victim who was abducted from Kohat on April 28 was detained in the Zargari area. The victim, Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Junglekhel, Kohat, had reportedly escaped the captors after remaining in captivity for 14 days.
A case of kidnapping for ransom was lodged against the accused with the Doaba police station. The accused whose houses were burnt down have been identified as Tariq, son of Alam Shah; Wilayat Shah, son of Usman Khan; Rasheed, son of Abdus Sattar; Aqal Wazir, son of Khyal Wazir; and Peermat Shah, son of Peerbat Shah.
The jirga also ruled that if the kidnappers failed to pay the fine in a week, the amount of the fine would be raised to one million rupees and the accused would be expelled from the area.
