SAHIWAL: PML-N MPA shifted to Sahiwal jail

SAHIWAL, May 18: A provincial assembly member of the PML-N was reportedly shifted to the central jail here on Tuesday. Ishtiaq Ahmed was arrested by the Lahore police on May 8 prior to the scheduled visit of Mian Shahbaz Sharif to Pakistan and detained him for three months.

Earlier, MPA Yawar Zaman, who was held on May 8 and awarded the same term of detention, was consigned to the Sahiwal jail. Mr Zaman is now reportedly being shifted to the Rawalpindi Adiala Jail.

BUS LOOTED: Four bandits on Monday night looted a passenger bus near Chak 118/9-L on the Sahiwal-Arifwala road. Reports said that dacoits boarded the Faisalabad-bound bus (GTR-8533), held up the passengers at gunpoint and took away cash, ornaments and other valuables.

Kamir police have registered a case under Section 392 PPC.

ARREST WARRANTS: Judicial magistrate Saqib Ali issued on Tuesday non-bailable arrest warrants for the market committee chief and two PML-Q leaders.

The warrants were issued under 16 MPO and the police ordered to produce them on July 5. Reports said Pervez Qayyum, Sheikh Intizar Husain and Muhammad Usman had taken out a protest procession on the death of a youth, Muhammad Farooq.
