RAWALPINDI: 4 die in separate incidents
RAWALPINDI, May 23: Four people, including a woman, died in separate incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Sunday. In the first incident, a man was shot dead by three unidentified men in Chontra in the wee hours of Sunday.
Nasreen Akhtar, the daughter Gulzar Khan, told the police that she got up after hearing gunshots and saw three men running out of her father's room. When she went into her father's room, she found him in a pool of blood. The victim died before reaching hospital.
Police were investigating the motive behind the murder. Ghazala Noreen, who had set herself on fire on Saturday in her house, died at the DHQ hospital. Police quoted the family of the woman as saying that she had been mentally disturbed.
Mubarak Afridi, a resident of Karachi, who had been staying in a hotel in Raja Bazaar since May 20, was found dead in his room by the hotel staff. The body was shifted to the DHQ hospital for postmortem.
A speeding taxi (BNA-195) knocked down a motorcyclist, Abdul Rehman, who was going home on his bike (IDK-5043) in the Industrial Area. Police arrested the cab driver, Nazakat Ali, and impounded the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a house was looted while five vehicles were stolen from different parts of Rawalpindi. Mushtaq Hussain lodged a complaint with the New Town police, stating that four unidentified persons entered his house and held his family hostage at gunpoint. The robbers snatched gold ornaments, a mobile phone set and Rs2,000 in cash and escaped.
Furqan Yasir's motorbike (RIX-7379) was stolen from Saddar, while Syed Riazul Hassan Gilani lodged a complaint with the Banni police, stating that his motorbike (IDN-7146) was taken away from outside his house along with another bike (RIX-2515) belonging to Zainul Abedin.
Mohammad Nasir's motorbike (RL-669) was stolen in Pirwadhai, while Manzoor Ahmed's Suzuki carry van (CJ-7095) was lifted from outside a bank in Saddar.
